Cremation
Offering direct cremations or full-service funerals, followed by cremation, we are here to help. We partner with Wakapuaka Crematorium and have a selection of affordable cremation caskets. We take care of all the paperwork, and we will personally deliver your loved ones ashes (within Golden Bay).
Burial
We offer traditional and natural burials within the Tasman and Nelson Region, at the cemetery of your choice. We carry a range of shrouds and biers, as well as eco and traditional caskets to suit any budget. We facilitate small, private, family-led burials, traditional funerals, repatriation, and everything in between.
Funerals
From the smallest home funeral to huge multi-location funerals, we pride ourselves in delivering excellent customer service while taking care of all the details with empathy and impeccability. We cater our provision to meet the needs of your family, removing as much stress as possible. We uphold your culture and values.
Viewings
We believe that viewings are important because they can help those left behind to begin to accept the death of their loved one. Whenever possible, we offer a free viewing as part of our professional service fee, at Matuku Funerals. Many people have expressed to us, that seeing their loved one before burial or cremation gives them a sense of comfort and can be restorative from the difficult last memories and significant shock of seeing them in the hospital or their death bed.
Natural Care or Embalming
In the past, it was routine in New Zealand to embalm. We believe there are occasions where embalming is necessary, however those occasions are relatively rare. We understand that some families prefer embalming, so we work with trusted providers, when requested. At Matuku Funerals, we have a purpose built, secure, monitored cool room. We also have safe, effective solutions for keeping your deceased loved one at the family home until the funeral.
Pre-planning and Payment
Matuku Funerals is proud to be a member of the Funeral Directors Association of New Zealand and as members, we offer free, safe, transferrable pre-planning and pre-payment with the Funeral Trust. If you move away, or wish to use another funeral home, the prepayment is transferrable to any funeral director in New Zealand. It is worth considering a funeral pre-payment plan if you want to avoid burdening your family with the cost of a funeral when you die or if you do not have next of kin living nearby.
